Shape and external appearance


Elongated, smooth shape.

Properties


Low in energy, the long white turnip is rich in fiber and contains vitamin C, potassium, iron, copper, zinc and calcium.

Caliber


Length of 20 to 30 cm, for a diameter of 7 to 10 cm on average.

Brassica rapa L. (Family Brassicaceae)

Coloring


The skin and flesh are white.

Origin & Culture


Very used in Japanese cooking, the long white turnip is sown in the ground from June to October.

Smell


Preparation advice


The long white turnip can be eaten raw, grated into a salad. When cooked, it makes an excellent base for soups and stews.

Texture


Home preservation


Can be stored for 2 weeks in the bottom of the refrigerator.

Flavor


Raw, the taste is close to the red radish but much more sweet.
